MalaTrip ("we", "us", or "our") operates malatrip.com — a travel map designed to help international visitors explore Chengdu, Chongqing and Xi'an. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. What We Collect
We do not require registration, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information. If you choose to accept cookies, we collect:
- Anonymous usage events — such as which city you selected (Chengdu, Chongqing, or Xi'an), which theme you viewed, and which places you clicked on the map.
- Technical information — browser type, device category (desktop or mobile), approximate region (derived from anonymized IP), and language preference.
- Session information — how long you stayed on a particular map view and which pages you visited.
Your IP address is anonymized before it is stored, so it cannot be used to identify you personally.
2. How We Use This Data
We use the information to:
- Understand which cities and themes travelers find most useful.
- Improve our map data, place descriptions, and user experience.

4. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate the site:
- Google Analytics — for anonymous usage statistics. Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenFreeMap — provides map tiles. No cookies are set, and no personal data is collected by OpenFreeMap.
- unpkg CDN — delivers the MapLibre GL JS library. Standard CDN access logs may be retained by the provider.
We do not share your data with any other third parties, and we never sell it.
5. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (in practice, we hold almost none).
- Request deletion of any data associated with your visit.

MalaTrip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. International Visitors
Our servers and third-party services may be located outside your country. By using MalaTrip, you consent to the transfer of anonymous data to these locations. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely.

We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
